People that build premium homes often plan for a great many guests. Their home is a showplace, and they want to share it with friends and family. Many would rather provide guest cottages for visitors rather than use the main house. It provides the family and their guests a large measure of privacy. One or more guest cottages may be built on a property with a premium home. It all depends on local zoning regulations and how many guests the homeowners expect.
There are many variations when building guest cottages. Some of them are nothing more than extra sleeping areas with attached bathrooms. Other guest cottages may have many appointments. These include built in kitchens, laundry and media rooms. Some owners expect their guests to stay a while and want them to be comfortable. Other homeowners simply want to make sure even overnight guests feel at home when visiting.
